FAQs: Opting in to the Internet Society’s New Privacy Policy / GDPR

  • What? ALL San Francisco Bay Area Internet Society Chapter members need to opt-in to the Internet Society’s new privacy policy to ensure their membership remains valid.
  • When? By May 25, 2018. 
  • How? Head straight to the Internet Society Membership Portal – you’ll need your username and password handy. Once you’re logged in, if you haven’t already opted in to accept the new privacy policy, you’ll see instructions on how to do so.
  • Why? The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) comes into effect on May 25, 2018. To ensure compliance with the regulation, the Internet Society needs all its members to confirm that they agree to having their data kept on file.
  • What if miss the deadline? If you have not opted in to the Internet Society’s new privacy policy by 25 May 2018, your membership will be canceled. Don’t worry though, you can always re-join the Chapter at any time by signing up for membership again. All new members will need to opt-in to the Internet Society’s new privacy policy to comply with the GDPR.
