Chapter Update: March 29 2017

  • Meet and Greet with your local Chapter: Come network with your fellow Chapter members and the new Board on April 10 at the WeWork SOMA office, and find out how you can get involved in our Internet Governance & Data Protection, Privacy, and Security initiatives.
  • Restrictions to Internet access are on the rise globally. Internet Society’s latest policy paper addresses the inefficiency of Internet content blocking and assesses the unintended consequences on users.
  • Mozilla, along with the National Science Foundation, has announced a new challenge to support ideas that keep the Internet accessible, decentralized, and resilient. We would love to hear from Chapter members about their ideas or proposals to bridge the digital divide and keep the Internet open.
  • Last, in case you missed it – the House of Representatives passed a resolution this week overturning a FCC rule that required Internet providers to get customers’ permission before sharing their browsing history with other companies.
