Learn about the new gTLD system: Greatest Expansion of the Internet’s Domain Name Space

September 19th, at The SFBay ISOC Web-ex, Tim Switzer will be talking about what is considered to be the greatest expansion of the Internet’s domain name system since the Internet was founded and what this incredible change means to individuals, businesses, and those who use the Internet.
Tim Switzer is currently the Chief Operating Officer / CFO for DotGreen Community Inc., a Bay Area company applying for the .green Top-Level Domain (TLD), to unite innovators and enthusiasts to organize and advance an even more powerful green movement and green economy. With an extensive background in general management and operations, Switzer has drawn on his wealth of experience in the domain industry and at the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, ICANN, in the development of the .green Top-Level Domain. Switzer previously spent his career in technology companies as a Business Operations executive.  The former Vice-president of Registry Services at Neustar, Inc., led the Domain Name Registry business unit (.BIZ, .US, .CO, etc.) as well as worked on several acquisitions heading up integration efforts.  Prior to Neustar, Switzer was the Vice President of Business Operations and Finance for Visa Interactive / Integrion, in the electronic banking business. He started  his career at IBM, where he spent 15 years working in multiple business and finance roles at various locations.

Tim will discuss ICANN’s New gTLD program and some of the exciting companies and new Top Level Domain names involved, where they are from, the money and resources being invested, some examples on how the Internet will be expanded and used in different ways and some key next steps in the ICANN new gTLD Process.
