The US San Francisco Bay Area Chapter

The US SFBAISOC Chapter is one of the larger of 133 Chapter organizations supporting the mission and impact of the Internet Society. We are a non-profit, registered in California with a regional Board of Directors and 1070+ members.

 

As a working Board, our responsibilities include fulfilling the mission of the Internet Society, bringing together resources to connect to regional projects that improve connectivity for local communities, inform our membership on public policy affecting the Internet through our popular Tech Policy webinar series https://www.sfbayisoc.org/blog. Now Recruiting New 2021/2022 Board Members

Our Chapter is recruiting candidates to apply for elected Board seats on the US San Francisco Bay Area Chapter Board of Directors.

 

The SFBAISOC is registered as a 501(c)3 Corporation and a California non-profit.  Board members are required to attend monthly meetings, participate in board and project activities, provide good governance practices related to annual budget formation, financial and project oversight and meeting our annual reporting requirements. Meetings are typically remote, with in person meet-ups planned twice a year.

 

Our 2021/2022 Nominating Committee welcomes candidates who will be chosen by membership election to four open SFBayISOC Board positions.  Candidates with at least some of the following experience/interest areas are desired:

 

  • A passion for the mission of the Internet Society.
  • Experience within or related to the technology sector with community connections in the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond.
  • Marketing, communications and community engagement experience.
  • Oversight of 501(c)3 Corporation and California non-profit organizations.
  • Recent accounting, audit or legal expertise with the ability to fulfil the role of Board Treasurer.

  • Jan 20th: March 10th: Vote confirmation period ends
  • Jan 20th: March 10th: Result Announcement
